It shuts itself off. The middle configuration is wider than the widest option on the rack, so some modifications have to be done. They can?t get very loud, have really poor noise cancellation and after about a month or so of use it starts to crackle if you move the jack at all. Regular dish soap makes it soapy throughout. Used for a flower girl dress. The build quality is good and the design is very good. Excellent for the pool or even as slippers! Can also hold my 200 pound husband. After a year of usage, here are my further comments: - Battery life is almost as good as a year ago, and thats nice - Head and ear cushions are still soft and havent gone flat - The joint on the right cup has developed a really annoying creaking sound, which is (thankfully) not present once you put the headset on and dont wobble your head too much - If you wake up the device while the PC is playing sound, the headset will go silent until you reboot it However, if youre a gamer and you want to mute your mic, the button will make a loud clicking sound every time you switch it, making it quite obvious that you are muting yourself.
